Once names are drawn, you can ask the person you're buying for a question, like their size or whether they drink coffee, without them finding out it's you. Whoever drew your name can write to you the same way, and you can reply.
Steps
- Tap the name at the top of Home and pick your group under Secret Santa.
- Scroll to Messages.
- Tap Ask [name] a question to write to the person you drew, or Message your Santa to write to whoever drew you.
- Type your message and tap Send.

Getting replies
When a new message arrives, the bell shows Your Secret Santa sent you a message or [name] replied to you, and the thread gets a red number. Tap either one to open the conversation.
If you don't open it within a few minutes, Wishpile also emails you. A quick back-and-forth comes as one email, and you get at most one an hour per conversation.
Good to know
- Your giftee sees your messages as from Your Santa, never your name. Your own Santa stays anonymous to you the same way.
- Only the two of you can read a conversation. The organizer can't, and neither can anyone else in the group.
- If the organizer resets the draw, everyone gets a new match and every conversation is cleared.
- Messages can be up to 1000 characters.
- To stop the emails, switch off Group and Secret Santa emails in your Profile. The bell keeps working either way.
