The best Christmas gift app in 2026 depends on which half of Christmas you need help with. For everyone’s wishlists in one place so nobody double-buys, Giftster is the strongest family wishlist and Elfster is the go-to for Secret Santa. For tracking what you are buying yourself, Christmas Gift List Tracker is a well-loved iPhone app with per-person budgets, but it has no shared family wishlists and no Android or web version. Wishpile is the one free app that covers both halves: family wishlists with hidden claims and a Secret Santa draw, plus a budget for every person, each present tracked from idea to bought to wrapped, partner co-planning that keeps each other’s surprises safe, and last year’s list cloned for this year. Giftful is the best-looking personal wishlist, and MyRegistry reaches the most stores. We re-checked all six apps against their own websites, help centres, and app store listings in October 2026.

How we compared
Re-checked 3 October 2026 against each app’s public website, help centre, and US App Store and Google Play listings; ratings are the App Store figures on that date. A dash means the feature is not advertised as a core capability, not that it is impossible. The budget row means a running total of what you have committed to spend across Christmas, not a fixed per-exchange spending limit. Giftster’s "Suggested Items" are hidden from the list owner but visible to the rest of the group, and its Secret Santa is set up on the web rather than in the app. Elfster’s exchange exclusions are set in both directions. MyRegistry hides purchased items from the list owner only if the owner switches that setting on. Christmas Gift List Tracker’s "smart list reset" keeps your ideas and clears last year’s purchases. Elfster has two decades of gift exchanges behind it and handles very large draws and anonymous messaging better than we do. Giftster has years of extended families already signed up, so your relatives may well be there already. MyRegistry reaches more retailers than anyone and can pull in registries you built elsewhere.
